Slow going

On 28th March, Beatrice left her overnight roost at the Etang des Pourcauds, NW of Mussidan, and flew 89 kms NNE before stopping in wooded farmlands east of Chassenuil-sur-Bonniere. Weather was not good for migrating.

Photographed in a camera trap

107 did a big circuit of Loch Shin on 10th and then north to Morven in Caith ness at 2pm on 11th but straight back south to the Loch Buidhe area north of Bonar Bridge. He ranged around here until 18th and then flew north to Ben Klibreck and then to Strathbrora.

Later I received an email from Kevin Cuthbert who had a camera trap on  carrion west of Loch Buidhe and quickly managed to work out it was 107.  Kevin’s photo was taken at 5.46pm on 17th and the GPS for 6pm showed 107 circling over the exact spot.  Kevin said there’s mist on the lens of the camera but it’s great to get one of our tagged eagles photographed by a camera trap. These new techniques are going to teach us new things about eagles.

Still there

No movement yet from Rothiemurchus – he needs to get a move on if he is to get a nest and mate this year.

Still there on 25th

Adolfo saw Morven again on the estuary on 25th March – raining so may be she will stay until it clears – not good weather for migration in western Europe all the way north to Scotland
