Suilven remained in the Strathoykell, Croick and upper Strathcarron areas

Usual haunts

Reay flew to the east end of Loch Fannich on 8th August, and then on 9th- 11th was south of Strathbran. She then flew to  a favourite area between Lochan Fada and Loch Fannich through to 19th August.

Cape Wrath to Loch Choire

Canisp left the Cape Wrath side on 8th August by the next day was SE of the Crask Inn and spent the rest of the period in the area around Loch Choire.

A flight to Loch Maree and back

106 flew to Glenfeshie from Glen Tilt on 9th August and then on 12th went to Gaick, and then north to Cuaich on 12th to 14th before flying north and roosting overnight at Glendoe, near Fort Augustus, on 14th/15th. Continuing north she roosted north of Cannich on the 15th/16th of August, then made a big flight NW so that at 1pm she was over Loch Maree and Letterewe. She turned east and roosted that night north of Glascarnoch reservoir. At 3pm next day she was over Ben Wyvis before heading SW to roost overnight south of Orrin Dam and next day between 6 and 7pm she crossed Loch Ness en route back to the Monadhliaths at Whitebridge.

Usual haunts

Rothiemurchus has remained in same area, often perched around Loch Ordie north of Loch of the Lowes and flying NE to fish on the Shee Water – a range of 580 square kms to 19th August.

En route to wintering site

Beatrice left on 18th and flew to the Pyrenees and crossed at her usual passes between 1300 and 1400GMT. She flew on down over Pamplona and roosted near Encisco. On 19th she flew 374 kms south through Spain, flying between Siguenza and Guadalajara at 1300hrs at 51kms/hr at 1662 metres altitude. By 2000hrs she was perched by the Reservoir de Gasset north of Cuidad Real.  She has 300kms to fly and the weather today is clear and sunny with very light north winds, she should get there by evening. I saw her chick perched at the nest this afternoon.

Beatrice arrived at her favourite stop-over at 1000GMT on 14th August and used her regular haunts, going as far west as 2.5 kms to fish. She departed at 1000GMT on 18th August.
