3 osprey
chicks on the nest |
2007 has proved
to be a poor breeding season. Firstly, very poor weather in April in
northern Africa and Spain caused delayed spring arrivals and
more missing adults and changes of partners than usual, as well as empty
nests. It was a very difficult spring migration. Then after an
excellent April in Scotland we experienced a very wet and often cold
summer, which caused more losses of eggs and particularly chicks than in
the average year. Failed breeders left early and now in August migration
south has started. |
