The Foundation carries out major studies and conservation management on ospreys. For example, we monitor breeding pairs in the North of Scotland and bring together annual breeding data, carry out ringing and satellite tracking, build and maintain artificial nests, encourage and help people to conserve ospreys on their lands, provide colour rings to other osprey ringers and maintain the osprey colour ringing scheme, give advice and training, and encourage the restoration of ospreys throughout their ancestral breeding ranges in the British Isles and Europe. We maintain contacts with osprey workers throughout the world. With Rutland Water Nature Reserve and Anglia Water plc we carried out the successful reintroduction of osprey to the English Midlands, which also led to the re-occupation of Wales. We have helped with reintroduction to Spain, and advised projects to Italy and Portugal.

Latest news:  Nimrod in southern Guinea Bissau; Beatrice still near Gibraltar;  Morven still on coast of north Mauritania.

Satellite tracking of individual ospreys can be checked by clicking links below  - those highlighted yellow are active
