Green J is back – Day out eagling with me?

Great news this afternoon when I found old green/white J back at her nest, with Blue XD in the tree above – and a phone call to Loch Garten osprey centre revealed that white EJ had been there all day with Odin – so life is back to normal and all the worriers can relax. Green J was hatched in 1991 so I’m pleased she is back for another season. I also checked another nest we built in March, to make up for last summer’s storm damage to the original, and it is great to see the old male perched on the off-duty branch.

A Fieldtrip to Coignafearn with Roy Dennis

Now to something different. Coignafearn Estate at the head of the Findhorn River valley (Eagle Alley to many English birders) has gifted a special ‘Day Out’ to the Heather Trust’s spring auction. This is to raise funds for the Heather Trust, which champions the good management of heather moorlands. I am the ecological advisor at Coignafearn Estate and this visit is for up to 4 people to spend a day with me looking at our ecological restoration work, learn how a big Highland estate works, explore special areas in an estate 4×4 and look for the birds and animals of the Monadliath Mountains. The date can be arranged to suit the highest bidder. For more details and to bid – cut and paste the following in your browser:
