A day of displaying

I visited his nest on 12th June as the rain cleared – what awful weather we are having. Red 8T was perched opposite the nest where the female was standing on edge of nest with young, but I do not know how many. On 13th June in late afternoon, Iain MacLeod, an old friend from New Hampshire and a keen osprey worker, was with a group of American birders at Rothiemurchus and he reported a satellite tagged osprey displaying high above the fish farm – at 6pm and still going at 9pm. I thought it would be Rothiemurchus but in fact it was Red 8T – he spent most of the time flying between 2pm and 9pm – do not know why he was set off, rather than staying at home by the nest not far away.
