Beatrice off on migration

I went round the osprey nests in Moray today to show a friend from the south the different types of nest sites so that he could select suitable trees for a couple of man-made nests in South Devon. Morven was perched above her nest but her chick was hidden although later GPS transmissions showed he was in a tree nearby – soon she will be off and I wonder if she will fly north again for a stop-over on the brown trout lochs of north Caithness. There was no sign of Beatrice at her nest, but one of her young flew to the nest while we were there. Actually she had left on the 8th and as w watched the chick she was flying south through France. Another osprey season is closing in Scotland.
