Beatrice moved a little to the west at dawn and then headed away to the west at 10am near Roslin. She passed over the western suburbs of Edinburgh and crossed just to the east of the Bridges before 11am. The last signal of this batch was at midday when she was flying north at 43km/h just west of Loch Leven. She has under 200 km to go and with good weather she might just get home this evening.
I went to her nest site at 5.30pm but there was no osprey at the nest – to the south clouds over the mountains suggested there might be haar conditions south of the Cairngorm. When the data came in later it showed that Beatrice passed Perth and Dunkeld and changed heading to NE to skirt the Cairngroms (as usual) but got stuck in Glen Isla in Angus, and settled for the night at Auchintaple Loch.
