Blue XD has wintered so far in exactly same place as last winter. On a northern creek, called Marigot de Diouloulou, of the River Casamance in southern Senegal, not far from the Atlantic Ocean. The winter site is on the point in the mangroves swamps with favourite roost sites along the main river banks and on an inlet. On Christmas day, 25th December, he made one flight of over 13 km out into the main river between 1506 and 1530GMT – possibly interacting with other ospreys; while a shorter flight of 7.6km between 1614 and 1631GMT seemed like a successful fishing trip. Otherwise he stayed at the daytime and nightme roosts.
