Red 8T is now feeding his two recently fledged young, mainly catching fish at Rothiemurchus fishery
Wandering a little more
Chick just ready to fledge
Beatrice has reared one young this year which is just about ready to fly, although today is the first day of continuous rain for many weeks. She is staying very much around the nest area but was about 500 m away one afternoon recently when two intruders were flying over.
Rearing her young
Beatrice and her mate are rearing one young this summer; she left the nest area at 3pm on 9th July and 11am on 12th July to fish in one of her nearest lochs.
Still ranging in Perthshire
Still not settled down
His mate has seen young so Red 8T is busy fishing
Red 8T’s transmitter is no longer sending data but I have seen him regularly at his nest where his mate is now rearing young. He is often at the Rothiemurchus fishery making a nuisance of himself (from the photographer’s point of view) chasing away the other male ospreys, which are trying to fish. He is clearly now the dominant bird in the district.
Rearing young
Beatrice is rearing a single chick this year and in the latter half of June the furthest she has been from the nest was perched in a wood 570 m from the nest at 7 AM on 19th June.
Red 8T now fishing for a brood of chicks
Red 8T and his mate now have young – just one poor signal from his transmitter and that was near Rothiemurchus fishery which is one of his favourite fishing sites.
