To a favourite stop-over at Kintbury

Red 8T was away south at 6am and passed Grantham at 10am. At 11am was just north of Rutland Water and probably overflew the osprey sites there and then called in at Eyebrook Reservoir at midday. Passed south over Pitsford Reservoir and by 4pm was just east of Oxford, an hour later at Nettlebed turned SW direct to Thatcham and then west to reach the woods at Kintbury – a favourite stop-over on previous migrations.  129 miles today

Fiddich sets off on migration

Fiddich set off from Moray late morning and was near Creagallachie at midday.  Flew SSE and was flying to the Aberdeenshire border at Cabrach at 1pm, crossed into Angus over the heather moors at 2pm then tracked  south to Glen Clova and settled for the night just NW of Bamff, near Alyth after 75 miles – a good start with excellent track.

Red 8T starts his autumn migration

Red 8T was at and around the nest in the morning until 10am when he had flown to Loch Morlich and then headed through the Cairngorm mountains. An hour late he was south of Braemar heading for the Glenshee ski centre and at midday he was over Couper Angus and then to Fife, leaving the coast at Methil to fly across the Firth of Forth to Longniddry at 2pm.  At 4pm he was at Bonchester Bridge and soon stopped for the night in the Borders Forests just north of the English Border after 140 miles

Flying through Morocco

A few non GPS locations have come in from Morven’s transmitter – the direct overhead sun has kicked it to work. She was roosting 60 miles south of Agadir on night of 5th/6th and in the morning of 7th was flying south, west of Smara

Still at home

Stan is still at home – I saw him perched in the tree beside his nest at 3.35pm on 4th September – he looked  very well facing into a fresh westerly breeze. The data to last evening 7th showed him still at home although making a few trips to fishing lochs of up to 5.5 miles.
