Hope ranged widely in 8000 km². She started at Ben Mor Assynt on 1st April and next day flew to Rhidorroch before going on 5th to Achnashellach. She then turned north to the Rubha Re Peninsula. On 11th April she flew past Poolewe and continued all the way to Kinbrace. On 12th to 16th April remained in this area with a trip north to Armadale and back. On 17th – 18th of April she made a long flight to the Cape Wrath Peninsula and then back to Kinlochbervie and the Reay estate.
Ranging widely in Sutherland and Ross-shire
Globe started the month at Kylesku and on 6th April flew south past Alladale to Carn Chuinneag. On 8th April was north of Inchbae and then flew north to Carn Ban and on to Cnoc Damph. On 18th and 19th April was in Coigach and north to Assynt and Quinag and on 21st April was at Merkland
In the Elphin area
Suilven’s transmitter gave a couple of non GPS signals on 28th March from east of Elphin. The transmitter is now old and not transmitting properly – it would be nice to think he may be on an eyrie.
Usual areas in NW Sutherland
Wandering in central Highlands
Brodie started April in the western Monadliaths and then on 6th – 9th was west of the Corrieyarrick and then south to Ben Alder on 9th and 10th April. On 11th April was north of Loch Rannoch and by evening was back in usual areas in the Monadhliaths. On 18th April she set off west to Creag Meagaidh and at 1 PM on 19th April was at Meggernie in Glenlyon before flying north to Coignafearn on the 21st.
A few signals
Suilven’s transmitter gave a few locations and showed that on 25th and 26th March he was near Ledmore in Assynt
Hope wandered to Caithness
Hope left her natal area on 15th October – a long time ahead of her sibling, Loyal. She headed south to Ben Hee and then slowly east to near Lairg and Golspie on 26th October, before heading north and settling in the Morven area of southern Caithness for the winter.
Hope remained in area west of Morven on the Caithness/Sutherland border to 15th March, when she flew to Ben Hope and the Loyal Estate on 18th. Later that day she flew to The Moine and stayed there to 20th March, before moving on south to the Foinavon SPA.
At last leaving home
Loyal was much more of a stay-at-home eaglet than her sister Hope. She remained with her parents throughout July – December 2014, except for short trips to Loch Loyal and back 4th – 9th October and to Cape Wrathside on 5th – 8th November. In 2015, she did another return trip to Cape Wrathside 21st -24th January and south to Lairg and back on January 30th to February 6th. She finally left home on 27th February (or was pushed out by her parents?) and headed SE to the Ben Griams near Kinbrace. On 4th March she moved east to the Morven area of Caithness and then north on 14th to the Flows east of Forsinaird and then on 20th back to Morven area.
Moving west in the Monadhliaths
Brodie has at last started to move away from home country. She was in the eastern Monadhliath mountains until 13th March when she moved to the west end of Coignafearn in the upper Findhorn. On 17th she crossed over onto Garrogie estate and then flew on west, visiting Creag Meagaidh on evening of 20th, before roosting that night in upper Glen Roy, in Lochaber, where she has stayed.
